Homemade Salty Oil-Free Almond Flavored Granola
I swear granola is the one of those dishes that can be used as a topping, cereal or a snack. So when I decided to make this lighted salted version I was thinking of all of those things. I tried it on a salad and it worked really good with a nice tahini dressing. I also made it with yoghurt and bananas for breakfast ( see the picture below) and drizzled it with additional syrup and man o man was it so flavorful. Lastly, I packed it as a snack on a hike and it really was a good pick me up after a sunny two and a half miles.
Jump to RecipeWhat ingredients do I need for this Almond Granola?
The ingredient list is pretty simple and attainable. In order to achieve a gluten free granola use oats that are labeled as gluten free such as these Bob’s Red Mill Organic Rolled Oats. In addition to selecting the proper oats you will want to make sure all of the other ingredients are also gluten free. This version of granola uses a list of whole foods so that will not be an issue. I did however use agave syrup for the sweet component in here. But maple syrup will work just as well. For the light salty flavor I opted for Pink Himalayan Sea Salt but Sea Salt would work really well in here to if you wish to replace it.
Granola Storage Tips, How much of this should I make?
Personally I make granola in small batches. There is just something more special when it is done this way. I think I learned that from the greatest granola maker ever Erin Baker. So in this recipe I made enough for a family of three for a week. It yields about six half cup servings. Granola after baked stores well on a kitchen counter or in the refrigerator in a air tight container. Let’s begin shall we!
