Dissolve your bouillon cube in water for the TVP.
Place your TVP inside the water with the bouillon.
Make your mashed potatoes, personally I used the microwave on the baked potato setting. Remember to peel your potato prior to cooking to make this easier on you. I did not season since the TVP will add flavor. If you opt to use your stove to make the mashed potato remember to cut in small cubes to speed up the cooking process.
The TVP will need about 5 to 10 minutes to rehydrate. Once rehydrated drain well and pan fry with a little oil if you desire. Oil is optional since the TVP will have moisture you may not need it. The TVP should be fried 5 minutes on medium heat.
Mix the TVP with mashed potatoes and move around continuing to pay fry another 5 minutes. Turn on a medium heat your griddle pan if you will be using one for the tortillas.
Place your tortillas on the griddle pan and flip after a minute. This process is so the tortillas can be pliable and easy to fold around. If you opt to use a microwave instead of the griddle pan, wrap the tortillas in a clean kitchen towel and for 1 minute place them in the microwave.
At this point you will need to add about 1/2 cup of oil to a frying pan on medium heat to prepare the deep frying process. Unless you are using an air fryer then skip the oil and frying pan. Fill your tortillas with the TVP and mashed potato mixture and secure with a tooth pick. Securing them tightly so that nothing falls out.
They should look like this.
Fry the flautas until golden brown on all sides removing the tooth picks once they have secured through the frying process. Oil frying will take anywhere from 3 minutes to 4 minutes on each side. Remember to use medium heat. If you are using the air fryer place the flautas in your air fryer basket at 400F for 15 minutes.
Plate your flautas any way you desire and enjoy.
